MHCSN Advocacy Priorities
- Help Release Funds for MI Choice! Our amazing MI Choice program helps people stay safe and comfortable in their own homes, instead of going to a nursing home. Right now, there are special federal funds, called ARPA funds, that can give a big boost to MI Choice. These funds will help make sure our program stays strong and can keep helping families like yours. We need our state leaders to say “yes” to releasing these funds! Your voice can help make this happen.
- Protecting MI Choice: A Call to Action! The MI Choice program is a lifeline, giving people the care they need to stay safe and comfortable in their own homes instead of a nursing home. This not only helps people live with dignity and independence, but it also saves our state money because home care is often less costly than nursing home care. A big part of what makes MI Choice work comes from federal funding – money from the U.S. government. If these federal funds are cut, it could hurt our ability to help people in Michigan stay in their homes. We need your help to tell our elected leaders in Washington D.C. and in Michigan that protecting federal funding for MI Choice is super important! Your voice helps keep this vital program strong for all who need it.
- Collaborate with lawmakers, MDHHS, centers for independent living, behavioral health and other community based organizations to answer the call when seniors need support and services.
- Ensure that home and community-based services are fully funded to effectively serve those individuals that wish to age in place. This can be accomplished by increasing capitation rates for the Ml Choice Medicaid Waiver Program.
